Linen backed posters can be displayed directly on walls or mounted on wooden stretcher frames, without compromising their value, years after years. They can also be framed behind a glass (but as solvents contained in silkscreen’s inks need to breath, glass is not recommend for long term conservation).
This technique is used by museums and libraries all over the globe, to protect and to stabilize the poster. Linen backing allows you to handle, display, frame, store and roll for shipping the poster.
Our linen backing is made by a Paris based best professional, the Ateliers Robin Tourenne, using only the finest canvases and water based technique, reversible with water then. This avoids to destroy the value of a poster once applied, like acrylic paints, essentially made with plastic, would do. Like for Centre Pompidou, Dior, Galerie Maeght, the Louvres and Guggenheim museums, it provides you the best quality of poster conservation.
Linen backing is a method to mount and preserve posters. This conservation technique, originally from 19th century in France, improves the appearance of a poster and increases its value.
