French Designers Alliance – AFD

To unify with best practices

François Caspar is the founding president of the Alliance française des designers AFD (French Designers Alliance) in January 2003. He is in charge of design fees, intellectual property and European matters, he is author of lectures about designers’ rights and duties.

The French Designers Alliance promotes and defends professional designers
The AFD is the largest multi-disciplinary professional union of designers in France. Members are entrepreneur designers, company owners, freelancers or integrated designers, from overall design disciplines: messages (40 %), products (40 %) and spaces (20 %). The AFD accompanies its members in the practice of their activity in the fiscal, social or legal realms, and inform French Ministries of Industry, Finance, Culture, and Education about design matters.

The French Designers Alliance cooperates in Europe and worldwide
The AFD cooperates with other design professional organizations. The planetary dimension of economic stakes implicates the positioning and action to promote the respect of design professions in the largest possible international sense. To exchange and open our ranks to designers whichever their country of origin is strategic to transmit our ideas. Main issues are: code of ethics, designers’ rights and duties, fees and copyrights pricing, public procurements, sustainable design.
